Cliquism
Grade 6 Students
While brainstorming possible SAA topics, I based my ideas on 3 key criterias:
-
Is it a relevant problem many of us face in our current environments and can relate to?
-
Is taking action on it realistically achievable and can this create a meaningful, lasting impact?
-
Is this something I deeply care about and resonate with?
“Cliquism was an issue that checked all these boxes for an impactful SAA project. I see it all around me in my daily life and have even experienced it myself and been affected by it. It’s a problem I can help address—even if in a small way—and work toward making meaningful progress for it. …And lastly, this is an issue that I am deeply passionate about and intent on addressing as I can see others being affected by it in my school and external environments. Which is one of the keys reasons I chose it as my SAA topic as it’s closer home for all of us.”

Petition against Stray Culling
Anirudh Sinha and Aditya Gupta - Grade 6
Two G6 students, Aditya and Anirudh are currently engaged in creating a website to raise awareness about Morocco’s reported plan to eliminate millions of stray dogs in preparation for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The G6 students have learned about how important it is to include different perspectives when sharing a narrative. Their website will include perspectives of animal activists like Jane Goodall, NGOs like PETA and International Animal Welfare and Protection Coalition.

Petitioning for more sanitary resources for girls
Valeska Soni - Grade 6
“…In conclusion, what we’re asking for is simple: dignity, comfort, and the basic resources to manage our menstrual cycles with ease. The stress, anxiety, and embarrassment many of us face each month can be alleviated with just a few changes—namely, more accessible and free sanitary products, including the primary bathroom on the third floor, as girls can start their menstruation as early as eight, and proper disposal bins in every bathroom. These costs could easily be covered by a modest increase in our annual fees. This isn’t about convenience; it’s about ensuring we have what we need to navigate our natural cycles with minimal stress, so we can focus on what matters most: learning.”

Ms. Bonita's 'Elves'
Grade 7 Students
This lovely bunch of 7th graders are Ms Bonita’s ‘elves’ - they are responsible for all the work that goes on behind and in front of the scenes to make sure the Lunchtime Concerts go off without a hitch. This involves giving up lunchtimes, troubleshooting, and working collaboratively with others. What a wonderful way to develop these skills!
